Can You Cancel a Domain on Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:42 am

When you purchase a domain through Squarespace, the domain is automatically registered to you for the length of the term you select (1 year, 2 years, or 5 years). If you decide you no longer want the domain, you can let it expire when the term is up.

You can also cancel your domain at any time through Squarespace. To do this, you’ll first need to unpublish your site.

Then, go to Settings > Domains. Next to the domain you want to cancel, click the three dots and select Cancel Domain.

Keep in mind that you won’t be able to use your domain with Squarespace if you cancel it. If you decide you want to use your domain again in the future, you’ll need to purchase it through a third-party provider.

PRO TIP: If you cancel your domain on Squarespace, your website will no longer be accessible online. All of your content will be deleted, and you will not be able to retrieve it.
