There are a lot of website platforms out there. Two of the most popular, especially for small businesses and bloggers, are WordPress and Squarespace.
WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that powers millions of websites. Squarespace is a popular website builder and hosting service.
So, can you integrate Squarespace with WordPress? The short answer is yes, but it’s not as simple as just installing a plugin or connecting two services together. In this article, we’ll explain how to integrate your Squarespace site with WordPress.
Method 1: Use WordPress as Your Primary Platform
The first method is to use WordPress as your primary platform and then use Squarespace as an extension of that. This method is best if you’re already familiar with WordPress or if you have a lot of content that you want to keep in one place.
To do this, you’ll need to purchase a domain name and hosting for your WordPress site. We recommend using SiteGround as your host because they offer great features at an affordable price.
Once you have your domain name and hosting set up, you can install WordPress and choose a theme. Follow our instructions on how to install WordPress on SiteGround.
Once you have WordPress installed, you can start creating content. For example, if you have a blog on your Squarespace site, you can migrate those blog posts over to your new WordPress site. You can also create new pages, posts, and other types of content.
Now that you have content on your WordPress site, you can add your Squarespace site as an extension of that. To do this, go to the Settings tab in your WordPress dashboard and click on the Reading link. Under the Front page displays section, select the “A static page” option and then select the page on your WordPress site that you want to be your home page.
next, select the “Posts page” option and select the page on your WordPress site where you want your blog posts to appear. Once you’ve done that, click on the “Save Changes” button.
Now that you’ve told WordPress which pages on your site are going to be used for your home page and blog posts, you can add your Squarespace website as an extension of those pages.
To do this, go back to the Settings tab in your dashboard and click on the “Squarespace” link. Enter your Squarespace account credentials and then click on the “Authorize”. Once you’ve done that, select which pages on your Squarespace website you want to add to your WordPress site.
For example, if you want to add your Squarespace home page as an extension of your home page on WordPress, select the “Home Page”. If you want to add individual pages from Squarespace as extensions of existing pages or posts on WordPress, select the “Individual Pages”. Once you’ve made your selections, click on the “Save Changes”.
Now when someone goes to your home page on WordPress, they’ll actually be seeing the content from your home page on Squarespace. The same goes for any other pages that you selected.
One thing to keep in mind with this method is that it will only work if both platforms are using SSL certificates. If either platform doesn’t have an SSL certificate installed, visitors will see errors when they try to access those pages.
You can purchase an SSL certificate for Squarespace through their eCommerce plan or through a third-party provider like Digi Certor Comodo.
If you have a WordPress site on a need SSL certificate installed on it manually or by using a plug in like Really Simple SSL or WP Forms.
Method 2: Use Squarespace to Build Your Site and Then Use Word Press for Your Blog
The second method is to use Squarespace to build your main website and then use the Word Press platform just for your blog.
If you want to use Squares to Build out the majority of your site but still want the benefits and features of Word Press for blogging purposes only then this might be the set up for you.
To get started with this method you will need to buy a domain name and hosting for your Word Press site first just like in the first method but you will also need to purchase a plan with Squarespace so we can use their structure data and content for your site too.
Once that is purchased you can follow our instructions on how to setup each of these two platforms one by one and then we will show you later how to connect them together so they work cohesively for your site visitors.
First things first lets get yourself a squarespace account and a new domain name for the Word Press site that you are going to use just for your blogging purposes only.
Follow the instructions in this article on how to sign up for your new SquareSpace account and your new domain name for the Word Press blog site and set everything up accordingly in their dashboard area once you sign in.
Next lets setup the Word Press site that you will be using as well again following the instructions in this article on how to get on line and choose a theme, etc for it before we continue on to the next step of integrating these 2 platforms together for your site visitors later on today.
Once you have both of these two platforms up and running its now time for the next step which is to connect them together so your site visitors see the exact same content on your site whether they are visiting it from the main pages of the square space side or from the blog pages of the Word Press side of things as well today.
In order to do this were commend using a plugin called “WP Beginner – Easiest Way to Connect Squarespace to WordPress”, which is available for free from the official WordPress plug in repository on line right now today.
Once you have that plug in installed and activated on your site now go to, “Tools > Import > Squarespace”, from the left-hand menu inside your dashboard area today to import all of your Squarespace content into your newly created Word press blogging site right now today so we can have everything we need all in the one place ready for the next step.
After that process has been completed successfully now go back to, “Tools > Export > Squarespace”, from the left-hand menu again inside your dashboard area today to export all of your Word Press blogging content into another file once the export process has been completed successfully now head over to your squarespace account dashboard area online and import that exported file of your WordPress blogging content into it right now today so everything we need is all in the same place for example home page content on the squarespace side and all of your blogging content on the WordPress side as you can see from the screenshot below.
