How Do I Add Alt Text to My Background Image Squarespace?

Adding alternative text (alt text) to your background images is a great way to improve the accessibility of your Squarespace website. By providing a text description of each image, you can ensure that visitors who are unable to see the images can still understand the content of your pages.

To add alt text to a background image:

1. Go to the page on your site where you want to add alt text to a background image. 2. In the left sidebar, click on the Design tab. 3. Under Design Settings, click on the Images tab.

4. Click on the image you want to add alt text to. 5. In the Image Settings panel that appears, enter your alt text in the Alt Text field. 6. Click Done to save your changes.

Your background images will now be accessible to all visitors, regardless of their ability to see images.

PRO TIP: If you are using Squarespace to add alt text to your background image, be aware that this will only work if the image is in a .png or .jpg format. If the image is in a .gif format, the alt text will not be visible.
