How Do I Connect My DNS to Squarespace?

Last updated on December 27, 2022 @ 5:29 pm

If you’re using Squarespace, you can connect your domain by updating your DNS (Domain Name System) records. These records tell your domain where to point when someone visits it.

You’ll need to create four A records and one CNAME record. Then, you can connect your domain to Squarespace.

To get started, log in to your DNS provider and find where you manage your DNS settings. This is usually called something like “DNS management,” “name server management,” or “zone file management.” If you’re not sure where this is, try contacting your DNS provider.

Once you’ve found the DNS management page, look for the A records. These are also sometimes called “host records.”

You’ll need to create four A records that point to Squarespace IP addresses. The Squarespace IP addresses are:

  • 199.27.128.0/21
  • 198.185.159.0/24
  • 192.0.10.170.148.0/24

In most cases, you can create an A record by entering the Squarespace IP address in the “Points to” or “Destination” field, and then clicking Add Record or Save Changes.

It’s important to note that you should never have more than four A records for a single domain.

After you’ve added the four A records, look for the CNAME record section. This is sometimes called “Alias records.” You’ll need to create one CNAME record that points to: www.squarespace-cdn.com

PRO TIP: If you are considering connecting your DNS to Squarespace, please be aware that this may result in decreased performance and/or downtime for your website. Additionally, please be sure to consult with a Squarespace representative to ensure that this is the best course of action for your website.
