What Is Squarespace Developer Mode?

As a web developer, you may be familiar with using “Developer Mode” in your browser to view and debug web pages. This is a similar concept, but for Squarespace sites. Enabling Developer Mode on a Squarespace site allows you to make direct changes to the site’s code, without having to go through the Squarespace interface.

This can be useful if you need to make quick changes to a site, or if you’re troubleshooting an issue. It’s also a handy way to test out new code before publishing it to your live site.

To enable Developer Mode, you’ll need to be logged in to your Squarespace account. Then, go to Settings > Advanced > Developer Mode. Click the “Enable Developer Mode” button, and you’re all set!

PRO TIP: If you enable Developer Mode in your Squarespace account, be aware that any changes you make to your site will not be visible to anyone else until you disable Developer Mode. This means that if you make a mistake while editing your site, no one will be able to see it until you fix it.

Once Developer Mode is enabled, you’ll see a new “Developer” option in the left-hand sidebar of your site’s interface. This is where you can access all of the site’s code and make changes as needed.

When you’re finished making changes, simply disable Developer Mode and your site will revert back to its normal state. So there’s no need to worry about accidentally breaking something!

Squarespace Developer Mode is a great tool for web developers who want more control over their Squarespace sites. It’s easy to use and can be very helpful when making changes or debugging issues.
