Can You Change Squarespace Template After?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 7:46 am

When you first choose a Squarespace template, you may not be 100% sure that it’s the right fit for your website. Maybe you picked a template because you liked the overall aesthetic, but after adding your content, you realize that it’s not quite right.

Or maybe you just want to try out a different template to see if you like it better. Can you change your Squarespace template after you’ve already started building your website?

The answer is yes! You can change your Squarespace template at any time.

Simply go to the Design tab on the left-hand side of your screen and click on Change Template. From there, you’ll be able to browse through all of the available Squarespace templates and choose the one that you want to use for your website.

Keep in mind that changing your Squarespace template will not delete any of the content that you’ve already added to your website. However, depending on the template that you choose, your content may be rearranged or look slightly different. If you want to change your template but keep everything exactly the same, we recommend duplicating your existing site before changing templates.

PRO TIP: If you change your Squarespace template after creating content, your content may not appear as it did before. Be sure to check your content for any changes before publishing.

To do this, go to the Settings tab on the left-hand side of your screen and click on Duplicate Site. This will create an exact copy of your website on a new URL. From there, you can experiment with different templates on the duplicate site without affecting your live website.

Conclusion:

You can change your Squarespace template at any time by going to the Design tab and clicking on Change Template. Keep in mind that changing templates may rearrange or change the way your content looks. If you want to experiment with different templates without affecting your live website, duplicate your site first.
