How Do I Sell a WooCommerce Video Course?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 10:37 pm

It seems like every day, there’s a new way to sell online courses. Whether it’s through an online marketplace like Udemy or Teachable, or directly through your own website, there’s no shortage of options for getting your course in front of potential students.

But what if you’re not interested in any of those options? What if you want to sell your course on your own WordPress website using WooCommerce?

It’s actually not that difficult to do, and in this article, we’ll show you how to sell a WooCommerce video course step by step.

First, you need to have a WordPress website with the WooCommerce plugin installed and activated. If you don’t have a WordPress website yet, check out our guide on how to create a WordPress website in under an hour.

Once you have WordPress and WooCommerce set up, the next step is to find a WooCommerce-compatible theme for your site. Your theme should be compatible with the latest version of WooCommerce and should have good reviews.

We recommend the Storefront theme by WooCommerce. It’s free, it’s made by the same team that created WooCommerce, and it’s optimized for selling products with WooCommerce.

Once you’ve installed and activated your theme, the next step is to create your course. You can do this with any video hosting service, but we recommend using Vimeo Pro. Vimeo Pro gives you unlimited HD video storage and allows you to password protect your videos so only people who have purchased your course can access them.

To set up Vimeo Pro, create an account and then upgrade to the Pro plan. Once you’ve done that, upload your videos to Vimeo and make sure they’re all set to “Private.”

Now that your videos are uploaded and private, it’s time to create your course in WooCommerce. To do this, go to Products » Add New in your WordPress dashboard.

On the Add New Product page, enter a name and description for your course. Then scroll down to the Product Data section and select “Simple product.”

Underneath the Product Data section, there are two tabs: General and Inventory. In the General tab, enter the price for your course under “Regular Price.” If you want to offer a discount on your course, you can enter that under “Sale Price.”

Next, click on the inventory tab and make sure “Stock Status” is set to “In Stock.” This will ensure that people can purchase and access your course as soon as they complete checkout.

Now that you’ve configured all of the settings for your product, it’s time to add some images. Go to the Product Images section and upload a featured image for your course as well as any other images you want to include.

Once you’ve added all of the images for your product, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “Publish” button

And that’s it! You’ve successfully created a product page for your WooCommerce video course!

Selling Your Course

Now that you’ve created your product page, it’s time to start selling! To start taking payments for your course, go to WooCommerce » Settings from the left sidebar of your WordPress dashboard.

On the main Settings page, click on the Payments tab from the top navigation menu. Here you’ll see all of the different payment methods that are available for WooCommerce stores.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to sell a WooCommerce video course, it is important to be aware of the potential risks involved.

WooCommerce is a popular eCommerce platform, however, it is not without its risks. One of the biggest risks when selling a WooCommerce video course is that your courses could be pirated and sold illegally.

To help protect your courses, it is important to watermark your videos and use a secure payment gateway. Additionally, it is advisable to use a digital rights management (DRM) solution to further protect your courses from piracy.

For most courses, we recommend using PayPal Standard since it doesn’t require any special setup or additional fees beyond what PayPal charges per transaction.

To enable PayPal Standard payments, simply check the box next to “Enable/Disable” and then click on Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Now That You Know How To Sell A Video Course..

Start creating content and building out marketing materials. You’ll need both if you want people to find out about and purchase your course!
