HTML is the standard markup language for Web pages. HTML tags are used to mark up the start and end of HTML elements such as headings, paragraphs, links, and more.

The following shows how to style text within your HTML document using the
, and tags.

The
tag is used to define a paragraph. Paragraphs are usually represented in visual media as blocks of text separated from adjacent blocks by blank lines and/or first-line indentation, but HTML paragraphs can contain other inline elements such as links, emphasized text, images, and form elements.

The tag is used to define bold text. Bold text is typically rendered using a heavier font weight than the surrounding text.

The tag is used to define underlined text. Underlined text is typically rendered using a slightly heavier font weight than the surrounding text and with a line under the text.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with HTML or CSS, we do not recommend adding a comment box to your Squarespace website. Doing so could result in unexpected changes to your website’s design, and could potentially cause problems with how your website functions.

To style text within your HTML document, simply enclose the text you want to style with the appropriate tag. For example, to make text bold, you would enclose it in tags like this:

This is bold text

To make text underlined, you would enclose it in tags like this:

This is underlined text
