If you’ve ever set up a WooCommerce shop page and found that it’s empty, you’re not alone. It’s a common problem, and there are a few possible explanations.
The most likely reason for an empty WooCommerce shop page is that you haven’t added any products to your store yet. If you’re just getting started with WooCommerce, take a look at our guide to adding products. Once you’ve added some products, they should appear on your shop page.
If you’ve added products to your store but they’re still not appearing on your shop page, there are a few other things to check:
- Is your WooCommerce shop page set as the “Shop base”? To check this, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced. Under the “Page setup” section, make sure that the “Shop base” is set to “Shop“.
- Do you have any WooCommerce pages disabled? If so, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced.
Under the “Pages” section, make sure that all of the WooCommerce pages are enabled.
- Do you have any other plugins installed that could be conflicting with WooCommerce? To test this, try deactivating all of your other plugins and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can try reactivating them one by one to narrow down which plugin is causing the conflict.
- Have you made any customizations to your theme? If so, try switching to a default WordPress theme like Twenty Seventeen and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, it’s likely that your customizations are causing the conflict.
If you’ve checked all of these things and your WooCommerce shop page still appears empty, contact us. We’ll be happy to help figure out what’s going on.
Why Is My WooCommerce Shop Page Empty?
3 Possible Reasons Why Your Shop Page Is Empty.
You Haven’t Added Any Products Yet.
You just installed WooCommerce plugin and created a couple of pages for your online store but when you visit Store page – it’s empty!
What’s wrong here?
(Please note that in order for products to appear on Shop page – they need to be published in Products section)
2 Possible Reasons Why This Happens:
Check if “Catalog visibility” option is enabled in Products section
- click on “Edit product” under product name
- scroll all the way down
- Product Data meta box will open up
- select “Catalog visibility” option
- choose “Show in Catalog & Search Results” from dropdown menu
- save changes by clicking “Update” button at the right side
- check if products appear on Store page now
Another reason why this might happen is because products are assigned to incorrect category or tag – please check this as well by going back into Edit product screen and scroll all the way down again until you see Product Data meta box where Categories & Tags options are located.
Sometimes none of these work which means there might be some kind of technical issue with Shop page template itself which can only be resolved by professional developer – in such case please contact one.
WooCommerce Pages Are Disabled In Advanced Settings Of WooCommerce Plugin
This happens quite often actually as many people forget about enabling necessary pages after installing & activating WooCommerce plugin for their WordPress website (or sometimes even after updating plugin version).

- Now look for section called “Pages” where different boxes should be ticked off according to which pages needs to be enabled
- By default all necessary pages should already be ticked off but if not then simply tick off those boxes & click on “Save changes” button at the right side
- That should do it please check frontend part of website now whether those pages appear or not.
Incorrect Shop Base Permalink Structure Is Set Up In Permalinks Settings Of WordPress
This happens sometimes too when incorrect Shop Base permalink structure is set up in Permalinks settings of WordPress which can easily be fixed by going through following steps:
1 Open up WordPress admin panel & navigate towards left sidebar where different sections are located
2 Find & click on tab called “Settings” (should be located towards bottom)
3 Once inside main area of Settings panel find section called “Permalinks” (should be located towards top)
4 Now locate radio button called “Post name” & select it by clicking on it
5 After that click on blue button called “Save changes” which is located at right side below Permalinks section – this will update new permalink structure throughout website including Shop Base URL structure.
* Please Note * – if this doesn’t work then please change back old permalink structure first before trying anything else as incorrect permalink structure might break website altogether causing fatal errors.
If none of these work then please contact professional developer as most likely some kind of technical issue is happening which needs further investigation.
