Shopify Inc. is a Canadian multinational e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. It is also the name of its proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems.

Shopify offers online retailers a platform for selling products and services, accepting payments, tracking inventory, and shipping orders. It also provides merchants with a backend administrative interface where they can manage their stores.

Shopify was founded in 2004 by Tobias Lütke, Daniel Weinand, and Scott Lake. In 2010, it was one of the fastest growing companies in Canada.

In 2015, Shopify ranked third on the Forbes Cloud 100 list. As of 2020, Shopify has over 1 million active users and is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms available today.

PRO TIP: If you are considering investing in Shopify, be aware that it is not a publicly traded company. This means that there is no secondary market for its shares and you may have difficulty selling your investment.

So, is Shopify public traded? Yes, it is! You can buy shares of Shopify stock on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol “SHOP”.
