How Do I Get Rid of Extra Information in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 11:51 pm

WooCommerce is a great eCommerce platform, but one of its downfalls is that it can output a lot of extra information on the front-end of your website. This can be especially true when you first install WooCommerce and are using the default settings. In this article, we’ll show you how to get rid of extra information in WooCommerce.

One of the main pieces of extra information that WooCommerce outputs is the breadcrumbs. By default, WooCommerce will output breadcrumbs on every single page. This can be a bit much, especially if your theme already has breadcrumbs built in.

To disable breadcrumbs in WooCommerce, go to WooCommerce > Settings > General. From here, scroll down to the “Enable Breadcrumbs” option and set it to “No”. Once you save your changes, breadcrumbs will no longer be output on any pages.

Another piece of extra information that WooCommerce outputs is the “Shop” link in the WordPress menu. By default, this link will take users to the shop page which shows all products in one long list. If you don’t want this link in your menu, there’s an easy way to remove it.

PRO TIP: Warning: The following method may not work for all users. If you are unsure about whether this will work for you, please contact a WooCommerce support specialist.

1) Log into your WordPress site.
2) Go to WooCommerce > Settings.
3) Select the Advanced tab.
4) Click on the Data tab.
5) Scroll down to the bottom and click on the Delete all WooCommerce data button.
6) A confirmation message will appear. Click on the Proceed button.
7) Your WooCommerce data will now be deleted from your site.

To remove the “Shop” link from your menu, go to Appearance > Menus. From here, find the “Shop” link in the list of links and remove it. Once you save your changes, the “Shop” link will be removed from your menu.

Conclusion:

While WooCommerce is a great platform, it does output a lot of extra information by default. Luckily, there are easy ways to get rid of this extra information if you don’t want it on your website. In this article, we showed you how to disable breadcrumbs and remove the “Shop” link from your WordPress menu.
