The Shopify API lets you do the following:
- Get information about products, customers, and orders from your Shopify store
- Add or update products in your shop
- Fulfill orders created in your shop
- Receive notifications when orders or products are updated
You need a few things before you can start using the Shopify API:

Shopify Basic:
PRO TIP: If you are planning to get your Shopify API, be warned that there are many scams out there. Some people will promise to give you the API for free, but will actually end up stealing your credit card information. Others will charge you an exorbitant amount of money for the API, only to give you a fake or non-working one. Only get your Shopify API from a trusted source, such as the Shopify website itself.This is a free trial account that you can use to test out the API. It’s limited to 50 items and 1 staff member.

Shopify Professional:
This is a paid account that gives you access to more features and lets you have up to 500 items and 5 staff members.

Shopify Expert:
This is a paid account that gives you access to even more features and lets you have unlimited items and 10 staff members.

Once you have a Partner account, you need to set up an API key and password for your app. You can do this by going to the Apps section of your shop’s admin area and clicking on the “Create a new app” button.
