How Do I Redeem a Gift Card on Shopify?

If you’re looking to redeem a gift card on Shopify, there are a few things you need to know. First and foremost, you’ll need to have a Shopify account.

If you don’t have one, sign up for a free trial here. Once you have an account, log in and head to your ‘Admin’ panel.

From your Admin panel, click on ‘Settings’ and then ‘Payment methods’.

Under the ‘Accepted payments’ section, click on the drop-down menu and select ‘Gift Cards’.

Once you’ve done that, a new section will appear called ‘Gift Card’:

In the ‘Gift Card’ section, enter the amount you want to charge for the gift card in the ‘Price’ field. For example, if you want to sell a $50 gift card, enter 50 in the ‘Price’ field.

Then, enter the number of gift cards you want to generate in the ‘Number of gift cards’ field. For example, if you want to generate 10 gift cards, enter 10 in the ‘Number of gift cards’ field.

Click on the ‘Generate gift cards’ button and your gift cards will be generated! You can then click on the ‘Download .csv file’ button to download a CSV file with all of your new gift card codes. Give this file to whoever will be selling the gift cards.

The final step is to add a payment gateway so that people can actually purchase the gift cards. Click on the ‘Add payment gateway’ button and select your payment gateway from the drop-down menu. We recommend using Stripe or PayPal.

Once you’ve added your payment gateway, people will be able to purchase gift cards from your store!

PRO TIP: If you are redeeming a gift card on Shopify, please be aware that there is a limit of $250 per gift card. Additionally, if you have a Shopify account, you may only redeem one gift card per order.
