As anyone who has ever shopped online knows, one of the most user-friendly features of ecommerce platforms is the ability to filter search results by price. For example, on Amazon, you can click a button to only see results that are under $25. On eBay, you can set a minimum and maximum price range.
And on Etsy, you can specify how much you’re willing to spend in your search. But what about WooCommerce? Can you set a filter by price in WooCommerce?
The answer is yes, you can set a filter by price in WooCommerce – but it’s not as straightforward as it is on other ecommerce platforms. In fact, there are several different ways to set a price filter in WooCommerce, depending on what exactly you want to achieve.
If you want to set a price filter for products in WooCommerce, there are two primary ways to do so:
- Using the default WooCommerce product filter widget
- Navigate to Appearance > Widgets in your WordPress dashboard.
- Find the Product Filters widget and add it to the sidebar area where you want it to appear.
- In the widget settings, select “Price” from the Filter type drop-down menu.
- Click Save.
The first way to set a price filter for products in WooCommerce is by using the default WooCommerce product filter widget. This widget comes with every installation of WooCommerce and can be added to any sidebar area on your site.
To use the default WooCommerce product filter widget, follow these steps:
Now, when shoppers visit your shop page, they’ll see a “Filter by price” option in the sidebar that they can use to narrow down their search results by price.
- Using the free WooCommerce Product Filter plugin
If you want more advanced filtering options than what’s available in the default product filter widget, you can use the free WooCommerce Product Filter plugin. This plugin adds a new “Filters” tab to your WooCommerce settings where you can configure advanced filtering options for products.
To use the WooCommerce Product Filter plugin:
- Install and activate the plugin. You can find instructions on how to install a WordPress plugin here.
- Navigate to WooCommerce > Filters (or go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Product Filters, if using an older version of WooCommerce).
You should now see a new “Filters” tab where you can configure your filters. - Click on “Add New Filter Group”. A new row will appear where you can configure your first filtering group. Give your group a name (e.g., “Price Range”), then select “Price” from the “Filter Type” dropdown menu.
