How Do I Add an SSL Certificate to Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 10:04 am

Adding an SSL certificate to your Squarespace website is a great way to increase your website’s security and improve your search engine ranking. SSL certificates encrypt communication between your website and visitors’ browsers, ensuring that sensitive information like credit card numbers and passwords cannot be intercepted by third parties.

Squarespace offers free SSL certificates for all websites on its platform. To add an SSL certificate to your Squarespace website, simply login to your account and navigate to the Security section of the website builder. From there, you can enable SSL for your entire website or for specific pages.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with SSL Certificates and how to install them, do not attempt to add one to your Squarespace account. You could end up damaging your website or introducing security vulnerabilities.

Once you’ve enabled SSL, Squarespace will automatically generate a unique certificate for your website and install it on your server. Visitors to your website will now see “https://” in the URL bar, indicating that their connection is secure.

If you’re not using Squarespace, you’ll need to purchase an SSL certificate from a trusted provider and install it on your web server. Many web hosting providers offer free SSL certificates, so be sure to check with yours before making a purchase.
