What Is Collection and Collection List in Shopify?

A collection is a group of products that you have created to make it easier for your customers to find what they are looking for on your shop. For example, if you sell t-shirts, you might create a collection for each type of t-shirt that you sell: men’s t-shirts, women’s t-shirts, children’s t-shirts, etc.

PRO TIP: Collection and collection list are two terms that are often used interchangeably in Shopify. However, they actually refer to two different things.

A collection is a grouping of products that have been hand-picked by you or your team. Collections can be created around any theme, such as “Summer Essentials” or “Sale Items”.

A collection list is a page that displays all of the products in a given collection. Collection lists can be customized to show different numbers of products, and can be sorted by popularity, price, or alphabetically.

A collection list is an automatically generated page on your shop that displays all the products in a particular collection. This is a great way to help your customers easily find the products they’re looking for on your shop.

To create a new collection:
1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products > Collections. 2. Click Add collection. 3. Enter a name for the collection and click Save. 4. To add products to the collection, click Add products.

5. Select the products that you want to add to the collection, and then click Add products. 6. To reorder the products in the collection, drag and drop them into the order that you want them to appear in on the collection page. 7. To change the name of the collection, click Edit next to the name of the collection. Enter a new name for the collection and click Save changes.
