What Is Coupon in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 2, 2022 @ 12:27 am

A coupon is a type of discount in WooCommerce. By default, coupons are applied to the order total.

However, you can also choose to apply them to individual products. For example, you might want to offer a 10% discount on a specific product, or free shipping for orders over $50.

There are two types of coupons in WooCommerce:

Percentage coupons give a percentage discount on the order total. For example, a 10% coupon will reduce the order total by 10%.

Flat rate coupons give a fixed amount discount on the order total. For example, a $5 coupon will reduce the order total by $5.

You can create as many coupons as you like in WooCommerce, and they can be applied to any order. To create a new coupon, go to WooCommerce > Coupons. Then, click the Add New Coupon button.

On the Add New Coupon page, you’ll need to enter the following information:

Coupon Code: This is the code that customers will enter at checkout to apply the coupon.

Discount Type: Choose whether this is a percentage or flat rate coupon.

Coupon Amount: Enter the amount of the discount. If this is a percentage discount, then enter the percentage here (e.g., 10%). If this is a flat rate discount, then enter the fixed amount here (e., $5).

Expiry Date: Enter an expiry date for the coupon, if desired.

Minimum Spend: Enter a minimum spend amount for the coupon, if desired.

Maximum Spend: Enter a maximum spend amount for the coupon, if desired.

Individual Use Only: Check this box if you only want the coupon to be applied to individual products (rather than the entire order).

Apply Before Tax: Check this box if you want the coupon amount to be applied before tax (rather than after tax).

What Is Coupon in WooCommerce? A coupon is a type of discount in WooCommerce that can be applied to either an entire order or individual products within an order.

There are two types of coupons available – percentage coupons and flat rate coupons – which provide customers with either a percentage or fixed amount off their purchase respectively. Coupons can be created and managed from within the WordPress Dashboard under WooCommerce > Coupons and generally require only basic information such as a name/code, discount type and amount, and optionally an expiry date and/or minimum spend amount in order to function properly.

PRO TIP: Coupon in WooCommerce is a great way to save money on your shopping. However, before using a coupon, you should always check with the merchant to make sure that the coupon is valid. Additionally, some coupons may only be valid for specific products or services, so be sure to read the terms and conditions of the coupon before using it.
