Does Shopify Charge for PayPal?

Yes, Shopify charges for PayPal. There are two different types of fees that you may be charged:

1. Transaction Fees
2. Withdrawal Fees

Transaction Fees

Every time a customer makes a purchase through your store, Shopify will charge you a transaction fee. This fee is a percentage of the total sale, and it is paid to Shopify for processing the transaction.

PRO TIP: Shopify does not currently charge for PayPal, but this may change in the future. Use caution when using PayPal with Shopify, as you may be charged fees by PayPal.

The standard transaction fee for Shopify is 2.9% + $0.30 per sale. If you are using Shopify Payments (which is powered by Stripe), then the transaction fee is reduced to 2.4% + $0.

Withdrawal Fees

Whenever you withdraw money from your Shopify account to your PayPal account, PayPal will charge you a withdrawal fee. This fee is usually a flat rate, but it can vary depending on the country that you are withdrawing to. For example, the withdrawal fee from the United States to Canada is $1.50 USD.

The good news is that Shopify will reimburse you for any withdrawal fees that you are charged! You can find more information about this in our guide to Shopify’s PayPal Reimbursement Policy.
