How do I put WordPress in maintenance mode?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 12:46 am

When you first set up a WordPress site, you might want to put it in maintenance mode so that you can keep an eye on it and make any necessary repairs or updates. To put WordPress in maintenance mode: Log in to the WordPress admin area. Click the ‘Settings’ link in the top left corner. Under ‘General,’ click on the ‘Maintenance’ tab.

PRO TIP: If you are planning to put your WordPress site into maintenance mode, be sure to take the following precautions:

1. Backup your site first! Maintenance mode can sometimes cause unexpected problems, so it’s always good to have a backup just in case.

2. Deactivate all plugins before putting your site into maintenance mode. This will help prevent any conflicts or errors from occurring.

3. Choose a maintenance mode plugin that is compatible with your version of WordPress. There are many different plugins available, so be sure to do your research before selecting one.

4. Test your site in maintenance mode before making it live for everyone to see. This will allow you to catch any potential problems and fix them before they cause any major issues.

Select the ‘Yes, keep site in maintenance mode’ checkbox. Click the ‘Save changes’ button.
