What Percentage Are Shopify Fees?

Shopify fees are a bit complex because they vary based on the type of plan you choose, and whether you use Shopify Payments or not. But we’ll try to give you a general idea of the fees you can expect.

The basic Shopify plan starts at $29 per month. If you use Shopify Payments, then there’s no transaction fee. If you don’t use Shopify Payments, then there’s a 2% transaction fee.

The Shopify plan also has an additional 2% fee if you use a third-party payment gateway. So, if you’re not using Shopify Payments, your total fees would be 4%.

The next step up is the Shopify Advanced plan, which costs $79 per month. Again, if you use Shopify Payments, there’s no transaction fee.

PRO TIP: Shopify fees can vary depending on the type of plan you choose and the features you use. Be sure to carefully consider your needs before selecting a plan, as unexpected fees can add up quickly.

However, if you use a third-party payment gateway with the Advanced plan, the transaction fee is only 1%. So, if you’re not using Shopify Payments, your total fees would be 3%.

At the top end is the Shopify Plus plan, which is priced according to your needs. This plan has no transaction fees regardless of which payment gateway you use.

So, to summarize, the percentage of fees you’ll pay on Shopify depends on your plan and whether or not you use Shopify Payments. If you use Shopify Payments on any of the plans, there are no transaction fees.

If you don’t use Shopify Payments, then there’s a 2% or 1% transaction fee depending on your plan. And finally, if you’re on the Plus plan, there are no transaction fees regardless of which payment gateway you use.
