How do I change my DNS on GoDaddy?

If you are having problems accessing your websites or e-mail from outside of your home network, it’s possible that your DNS (Domain Name System) settings are not correct. To change your DNS on GoDaddy:

1. Log into your GoDaddy account.

2. Click on the “Domain Name System” link in the left navigation bar.

3. On the “Domain Name System” page, click on the “Manage DNS” link.

4. On the “Manage DNS” page, under the “Servers” heading, click on the “Add” link.

5. In the “Add Server” window, enter the following information:

  • Server Hostname: your_server_name.domain.com
  • Port: 53

6. In the “Name Servers” window, click on the “Add” link.

7. In the “Name Servers” window, enter the following information:

  • Server Hostname: ns1.com
  • Server Hostname: ns2.com

8. Click on the “Add” button to add the servers to your list.

9. Click on the “Save Changes” button to save your changes.

10. Click on the “Close” button to close the “Manage DNS” page.

11. Click on the “Forward” button to forward the “nameservers” setting to your router.

12. Click on the “Settings” button to open the “General” tab.

13. Under the “DNS” heading, click on the “Change” button.

14. In the “Change DNS Settings” window, enter the following information:

  • Port: 853

15. Click on the “Close” button to close the “Change DNS Settings” window.

16. Click on the “Done” button to close the “Manage DNS” page.

17. Click on the “Home” button to return to the GoDaddy home page.

18. Under the “DNS” heading, click on the “Reset” button.

19. In the “Reset DNS Settings” window, enter the following information:

20. Click on the “Close” button to close the “Reset DNS Settings” window.

21. Click on the “Done” button to close the “General” tab.

22. Click on the “Contact Us” button to send an email to GoDaddy support.

23. Click on the “Summary” button to view the changes that you have made to your DNS.

24. Click on the “Cancel” button to close the “Summary” window.

25. Click on the “Domain Names” button to open the “Domain Names” page.

26. Under the “Your Domain Name” heading, click on the “Edit Info” link.

27. In the “Edit Info” window, enter the following information:

  • Name: your_domain_name
  • Hostname: your_server_name.com

28. Click on the “Close” button to close the “Edit Info” window.

29. Under the “Your Domain Name” heading, click on the “Delete Info” link.

30. In the “Delete Info” window.

PRO TIP: If you are changing your DNS on GoDaddy, be aware that this will change the DNS for your entire domain. This means that any email or website associated with your domain will no longer work unless you have updated the DNS records for those services as well.
