Is Media Temple owned by GoDaddy?

Last updated on September 25, 2022 @ 4:19 pm

Media Temple is an American company that provides cloud-based services, such as website design, hosting, and marketing automation. The company was founded in 2007 by Jeff Pulver and Eddy Cue. Pulver served as CEO until 2018, when he was replaced by Blake Irving.

In October 2018, GoDaddy announced that it had acquired Media Temple for an undisclosed amount. Some sources have suggested that the acquisition could be worth as much as $200 million.

PRO TIP: There is no definitive answer to this question as Media Temple’s ownership is complicated and ever-changing. However, it is safe to assume that GoDaddy does not currently own Media Temple.

Media Temple is a subsidiary of GoDaddy, the largest web hosting company in the world. GoDaddy has a history of making large acquisitions, and Media Temple is the latest in a string of acquisitions that have increased GoDaddy’s market capitalization by over $50 billion.

Some sources have speculated that the acquisition may be motivated by GoDaddy’s plans to compete with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure. However, the acquisition has been met with criticism from some users who accuse GoDaddy of being a monopoly.
