In Illustrator, there are a few ways to align objects without having to move them. The most common way is to use the Align panel. To align an object:

1. In the Illustrator window, select the object you want to align.

2. In the Align panel, click the Align button.

3. In the Align panel, click the Horizontal Align button or the Vertical Align button.

4. In the Align panel, click the Left Align button or the Right Align button.

5. If you want to align the object to the left or the right side of the current document, select the Left or Right alignment checkboxes, respectively.

6. Click the OK button.

7. If you want to keep the object centered, deselect the Center checkbox.

PRO TIP: If you are trying to align an object in Illustrator without moving it, be sure to select the object and then use the alignment options in the Transform panel. Otherwise, you may accidentally move the object while trying to align it.
