Is 4GB RAM enough for Illustrator?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 6:41 pm

4GB RAM is the current recommended amount for Illustrator. While more RAM can always be beneficial, it is not necessary for running Illustrator. Illustrator can run on systems with as little as 512MB of RAM. While more RAM can speed up Illustrator, it is not necessary for normal use.

Additionally, having more than 4GB of RAM can actually cause problems with Illustrator, as it can start to slow down as more and more tasks are loaded at the same time. So, while 4GB of RAM is the current recommended amount, it is not necessary and more RAM can actually harm Illustrator performance.

PRO TIP: 4GB of RAM may be enough for some users, but others may find that they need more RAM in order to use Illustrator effectively. Illustrator is a powerful program that can be resource intensive, so users with less than 4GB of RAM may experience performance issues.
