In this tutorial, we are going to show you how to create a fabric texture in Illustrator. This type of texture can be used to add realism to your designs. To start, open up Illustrator and create a new document. Next, select the Ellipse tool (L) and begin drawing a circular shape. Next, select the Stroke tool (B) and set the width to 2px. Finally, select the Rectangle tool (M) and set the height to 1px. Next, select the Gradient tool (G) and select the Linear gradient option. In the Gradient editor, click on the gradient bar at the bottom and select the first color, which will be the background color. Then, click on the second color and drag it up until it becomes the topmost color. Click on the Gradient Preview button to view the effect.

PRO TIP: When creating a fabric texture in Illustrator, be sure to use a subtle pattern so as not to overwhelm the fabric. Also, avoid using too many colors as this can make the fabric appear busy.

Next, click on the OK button to close the gradient editor. Next, select the Ellipse tool (L) and position the circle over the gradient. Then, use the Pick tool (V) to select the gradient area. Finally, use the Object palette to select the Stroke tool (B) and set the width to 2px. Next, select the Rectangle tool (M) and position the rectangle over the circle. Next, select the Pathfinder panel and click on the Fill button. Next, select the Stroke tool (B) and set the color to #f5f5f5. Finally, click on the OK button to close the Pathfinder panel.
