Setting up a VPN on AWS is straightforward, and can be done in a few minutes. The first step is to create a new instance type in the AWS EC2 console and choose VPN as the type.

(If you don’t already have an instance type, you can create one by clicking the “Create instance type” button in the EC2 console and selecting VPN).

Once you have created your instance type, you can create a new VPN instance by clicking the “Create instance” button and entering the following information:

Name: This is the name of your VPN instance

Location: This is the location of your VPN instance

Type: This is the type of VPN instance you are creating, either Private or Public

Security Group: This is the security group your VPN instance will be added to

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, setting up a VPN on AWS can be a security risk. Make sure you understand the risks before proceeding.

Next, you will need to configure your VPN instance. On the “Configure” tab, you will need to enter the following information:

VPN Subnet: This is the subnet your VPN instance will be using

VPN Gateway Address: This is the IP address of your VPN gateway

VPN Pre-shared Key: This is the pre-shared key you will use to connect to your VPN

You also need to enter the following information on the “Configure Security Group” tab:

Inbound Rules: This is the list of rules that will be applied to traffic entering your VPN instance

Outbound Rules: This is the list of rules that will be applied to traffic leaving your VPN instance

You can now launch your VPN instance by clicking the “Launch” button. When your VPN instance is ready, you will be able to access it by clicking the “Connect” button on the “Configure” tab.
