Why is AWS charging me?

AWS charges you for compute, storage, and networking resources used by your applications. These charges help AWS cover the costs of providing these resources and making them available to you.

AWS charges for compute time and usage. The amount you are charged per hour depends on the type of AWS account you have and the region in which your account is located.

PRO TIP: If you see a charge on your AWS account and you’re not sure why, please contact AWS Support. We can help you identify the charge and take appropriate action.

You can see the charges for a past month in the monthly statement in the AWS Management Console.

Storage charges apply to data stored in AWS. You are charged based on the amount of data stored in S3 buckets and Amazon EBS volumes.

Networking charges apply to the amount of data transferred through the AWS network. You are charged based on the amount of data transferred in gigabytes.
