To create a cname record in Namecheap, you first need to create a new DNS zone. Once you have created the zone, you can add a cname record to the zone. To add a cname record, you first need to create a CNAME record. The CNAME record points to the zone name.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with DNS records or Namecheap’s interface, we recommend contacting our Support Team for assistance. Creating a CNAME record without proper understanding can result in DNS propagation issues or downtime for your website.

You then need to create the A record that points to the zone name. Finally, you need to create the PTR record that points to the IP address of the server that you want to use as the cname server.
