Why Are My Photoshop Filters Greyed Out?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:24 pm

If you’re a Photoshop user, you may have noticed that some of your filters are greyed out and unavailable. There are a few reasons why this may be the case.

One reason is that the filter isn’t compatible with the current image mode. For example, certain filters can only be used in 8-bit or 16-bit images. To fix this, simply convert the image to the appropriate mode using the Image > Mode menu.

Another possibility is that the layer you’re trying to apply the filter to is locked or hidden. Filters can only be applied to unlocked, visible layers. To fix this, simply unlock or unhide the layer in question.

Finally, some filters are only available in certain versions of Photoshop. If you’re using an older version of the software, it’s possible that the filter you’re trying to use isn’t available. In this case, you’ll need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop.

If your Photoshop filters are greyed out, try one of these three solutions. Most likely, one of them will fix the problem and allow you to use your filters as usual.
