Where Are My Patterns in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:43 pm

As a new Photoshop user, you may be wondering where your patterns are. Patterns are located in the Presets folder, which can be found in the Photoshop installation folder.

If you’re using Windows, the Presets folder is usually located at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (version)\Presets. If you’re using a Mac, the Presets folder is usually located at Applications/Adobe Photoshop (version)/Presets.

If you go into your Presets folder, you’ll see that there are already a few folders with preset patterns in them. However, if you want to add your own custom patterns, you’ll need to create a new folder for them.

To do this, simply right-click on the Presets folder and select New Folder. Name your new folder something like “My Patterns” or whatever you like.

Once you’ve created your new folder, open it up and create a new file inside of it. To do this, click on File > New.

In the New dialog box that comes up, make sure that the Width and Height are both set to 100 pixels and the Resolution is set to 300 pixels/inch. Then click on the Background Contents drop-down menu and select Pattern. Now click OK to create your new file.

Now that you have a new file open, go to Edit > Fill. In the Fill dialog box that comes up, select Pattern from the Use drop-down menu.

Then click on the Custom Pattern thumbnail and select the pattern that you want to use from the thumbnails that appear below. Once you’ve selected your pattern, click OK to close the dialog box and fill your image with your selected pattern.

So there you have it! That’s how easy it is to add your own custom patterns in Photoshop. Just remember to save your patterns in the Presets folder so that you can easily access them later on.

PRO TIP: If you are having trouble finding your patterns in Photoshop, be sure to check your “Preferences” first. Your patterns may be hidden in the “Layers” tab.
