How Do You Make a Star in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:16 pm

Since the release of Adobe Photoshop CS6, one of the most popular new features has been the addition of the “Content-Aware” tools. These allow users to easily remove objects from photos, as well as to fill in gaps created by removed objects. One of the most common uses for these tools is to remove stars from nighttime photos.

There are two main ways to remove stars in Photoshop CS6: the “Content-Aware Move” tool and the “Patch” tool. Both are fairly easy to use, but the “Content-Aware Move” tool is generally considered to be the better option.

To use the “Content-Aware Move” tool, simply select it from the toolbar and then click and drag over the area of the photo that contains the stars you want to remove. Photoshop will automatically identify the stars and attempt to remove them. You may need to adjust the settings on the tool before using it, but in most cases, the default settings will work fine.

PRO TIP: Be careful when following the instructions in this article – if you are not careful, you may end up with a star that looks fake and unnatural.

The “Patch” tool is another option for removing stars in Photoshop CS6. To use this tool, select it from the toolbar and then click and drag over the area of the photo that contains the stars.

Again, Photoshop will automatically identify the stars and attempt to remove them. The main advantage of this tool over the “Content-Aware Move” tool is that it allows you to be more precise in your selection of which area of the photo you want to affect.

Once you’ve removed the stars from your photo using either of these methods, you may want to add some artificial stars back in. This can be done by creating a new layer in Photoshop and then painting on that layer with a white brush. You can also add artificial stars by using a star-shaped brush or by downloading a star brush pack from an online resource such as Brusheezy.

Conclusion:

Both the “Content-Aware Move” tool and the “Patch” tool are effective methods for removing stars from photos in Photoshop CS6. The “Content-Aware Move” tool is generally considered to be easier to use, while the “Patch” tool offers more precision. Once you’ve removed the stars from your photo, you can add artificial stars back in by creating a new layer and painting on it with a white brush or by using a star-shaped brush or star brush pack.
