Psychedelic effects can be created in Photoshop with a few simple steps. To start, open an image in Photoshop. Next, go to the ‘Filter’ menu and select ‘Distort’ then ‘Wave’.

Now you will see a dialogue box appear. In the first ‘Amplitude’ box, enter a value of around 50.

In the ‘Wavelength’ box, enter a value of around 150. Make sure the ‘Type’ is set to ‘Square Wave’ and then click ‘OK’.

Your image should now have a wavy, distorted look to it. Next, go to the ‘Filter’ menu again and this time select ‘Render’ then ‘Lens Flare’.

A new dialogue box will appear. In the middle of this box, you will see a small black dot.

Click and drag this dot towards the top left of the image until you have created a strong flare effect. Then click ‘OK’.

Your image should now have a psychedelic, trippy look to it! To finish off the effect, go to the ‘Layer’ menu and select ‘Flatten Image’. This will merge all of the layers together so that your final image is one solid layer.
