Why Did Adobe Remove Photoshop Touch?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 10:51 pm

Adobe has announced that it will no longer be selling Photoshop Touch, one of its mobile apps. The app, which was designed for tablets and allowed users to edit and create images on the go, will be replaced by a new app called Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC.

So why did Adobe remove Photoshop Touch? There are a few possible reasons.

One reason may be that the app simply wasn’t very popular. Adobe has not released any official numbers, but according to third-party data, the app was only downloaded a few hundred thousand times. In comparison, Adobe’s other mobile apps, such as Photoshop Express and Lightroom Mobile, have been downloaded millions of times.

PRO TIP: Adobe has announced that it will no longer support Photoshop Touch, and the app will be removed from the App Store on May 28, 2019.

It’s also possible that Adobe decided to focus its efforts on other platforms. The company has been investing heavily in its Creative Cloud suite of apps, which are available on both desktop and mobile. And while Photoshop Touch was available on both iOS and Android, it’s possible that Adobe decided to focus its mobile efforts on one platform or the other.

Finally, it’s worth noting that Adobe isn’t the only company to discontinue a mobile app recently. Apple recently announced that it will be discontinuing its own professional photo editing app, Aperture. Like Photoshop Touch, Aperture was designed for use on tablets and allowed users to edit and organize their photos on the go.

So what does this all mean for users of Photoshop Touch? If you’re an existing user of the app, you’ll still be able to use it until May 28th, 2016. After that date, the app will no longer be available for download and will no longer receive updates from Adobe.

The most likely reason why Adobe removed Photoshop touch is because it wasn’t very popular compared to their other mobile apps like Lightroom Mobile (which has been downloaded millions of times). It’s also possible they want to focus more attention towards their Creative Cloud suite since it’s available across platforms (desktop & mobile).
