Layers are one of the most important features in Photoshop. By understanding how to use layers, you can create complex images with ease.

Layers also give you the ability to make changes to your image without affecting the original image. When you first open Photoshop, you will see the Layers panel on the right side of the screen. If you don’t see the Layers panel, you can go to Window > Layers to open it.

In the Layers panel, you will see a list of all the layers in your image. By default, Photoshop creates a new layer for every new element you add to your image.

For example, if you add a new shape, Photoshop will create a new layer for that shape. You can also create new layers by clicking the “Create a New Layer” button at the bottom of the Layers panel.

To view all the layers in your image, click the “eye” icon next to the layer name. This will hide all other layers except for the one you selected.

To view all layers again, click the “eye” icon next to the layer name again. You can also click on the “layer” icon next to the layer name to lock all other layers except for the one you selected.

PRO TIP: If you are using Photoshop to edit images, it is important to be aware of the ‘Layer’ function. By default, Photoshop will only show the top layer in an image. This can be changed by going to the ‘View’ menu and selecting ‘Show All Layers’. However, if you do not have a layer selected, this function will not be available.

To change the order of your layers, simply click and drag the layer up or down in the list. The topmost layer in the list will be at the top of your image, and vice versa.

You can also change the opacity of a layer by clicking and dragging the slider next to “Opacity. ”
