How Do I Create a Sparkling Effect in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 11:31 pm

There are a few different ways that you can create a sparkling effect in Photoshop. One way is to use the Brush tool. With the Brush tool selected, choose a small, hard-edged brush from the Brushes panel. Next, click on the Foreground Color swatch in the Tools panel and choose a light color. Then, paint over the area where you want the sparkles to appear.

Another way to create sparkles is to use the Pen tool. With the Pen tool selected, click on the canvas to create a new point. Then, press and hold the Alt key (Windows) or Option key (Mac) and click on the point to create a new handle.

Drag the handle to create a curved line. Repeat this process until you have created a sparkle shape that you are happy with.

PRO TIP: When creating a sparkling effect in Photoshop, be sure to use a low opacity brush so the effect is subtle. If you use a high opacity brush, the effect will be too strong and may look unnatural.

Once you have created your sparkle shape, you will need to add some noise to it. To do this, go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. In the Add Noise dialog box, choose an amount of noise that you are happy with and click OK.

Finally, To add some color to your sparkles, go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. In the Hue/Saturation dialog box, move the Saturation slider to the right until you are happy with the color of your sparkles. Click OK when you are done.

Creating sparkles in Photoshop is a great way to add some pizzazz to your images. With just a few simple steps, you can easily add sparkles using the Brush or Pen tool.
