How Do I Reference an Image in Photoshop?

When you’re working on a web project, it’s important to use high-quality photos that are relevant to your content. However, you also need to make sure that you’re crediting the source of the image. Here’s how to do that in Photoshop:

When you open up Photoshop, go to File > Place. This will allow you to select an image from your computer to insert into your project.

Once you’ve selected the image you want, click Place.

At this point, a dialog box will appear. In the Name field, type in the name of the person or website who created the image. If you don’t know who the creator is, you can just put “unknown.”

In the URL field, paste in the URL where you found the image. Finally, click Place.

Now that the image is inserted into your project, you can add a link to the original source. To do this, select the image and then go to Edit > Link.

In the dialog box that appears, paste in the URL of the page where you found the image. Now when someone clicks on the image, they’ll be taken directly to its source.

PRO TIP: Images in Photoshop can be referenced in a number of ways, but the most common is through the use of a layer. When you reference an image in Photoshop, you are essentially creating a link to that image file on your hard drive. If you move or delete the image file, the link will be broken and Photoshop will not be able to find the image.
