How Do You Make a Watercolor Splatter in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:47 am

watercolor splatters are one of the most versatile and easy to use Photoshop brushes. There are a few different ways that you can create them, but the most common is to use a brush with a wet edge.

To create a watercolor splatter in Photoshop, you’ll first need to create a new layer.

Then, select a brush with a wet edge from the Brush tool menu. Next, press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) and click on the new layer. This will open the Layer Properties dialog box.

In the Layer Properties dialog box, set the mode to Linear Burn and the Opacity to 100%. Then, click OK.

Now, simply paint over the area where you want the watercolor splatter to appear. The brush will automatically create a wet edge and the color will start to bleed outwards, creating a realistic watercolor effect.

PRO TIP: This tutorial is for advanced Photoshop users only. Splattering watercolors in Photoshop can be very messy and difficult to control. If you are not careful, you can easily end up with a big mess on your hands.

To add some variation to your watercolor splatters, you can experiment with different brushes and different layer modes. You can also change the opacity of the brush or use multiple layers to build up the effect.

Conclusion:

Watercolor splatters are a great way to add some interest and texture to your photos. They’re easy to create in Photoshop and there are endless possibilities for customization.
