The first thing you need to do when you want to paint on Photoshop is to create a new layer. To do this, go to the ‘Layer’ menu at the top of the screen and select ‘New Layer’. A new layer will appear in your ‘Layers’ palette (usually located on the right-hand side of the screen).
Next, you need to select a brush. Photoshop comes with a variety of default brushes, but you can also download custom brushes made by other users. To select a brush, simply click on it in the ‘Brushes’ palette (usually located near the bottom of the screen).
