How Do I Change the Background in Adobe Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 1:35 am

In order to change the background in Adobe Photoshop, the first thing you need to do is open up your image. Once your image is open, go to the “Layers” panel which is usually located on the right side of your screen. Next, create a new layer by clicking on the “Create a New Layer” icon, which is located at the bottom of the “Layers” panel.

Now that you have created a new layer, you will want to select the “Background Eraser Tool” from the toolbar on the left side of your screen. Once you have selected this tool, you will want to erase the background of your image.

To do this, simply click and drag your mouse over the background of your image. As you do this, the background will be erased and replaced with transparency.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that changing the background in Adobe Photoshop can be a complex process, depending on the image. You may want to consider seeking out tutorials or professional help before attempting to make any changes.

Once you have erased the background, you can now add a new background by creating a new layer and adding your desired image into it. To do this, go to the “File” menu and select “New.”

This will open up a new window where you can select your desired image. Once you have selected your image, click “Open.” Your new background image will now be added as a layer to your Photoshop document.

You can now move your new background layer around by clicking and dragging it into place. You can also change its opacity by selecting it and then going to the “Layer” menu and selecting “Layer Properties.” Here you can change the opacity of your layer by moving the slider to the left or right.

Once you have your new background in place, you can save your Photoshop document by going to the “File” menu and selecting “Save As.” Choose a location to save your file and then click “Save.”
