If you’re a designer, there’s a good chance you’re using Adobe Photoshop on a daily basis. Photoshop is an incredibly powerful tool that can be used for everything from simple design tasks to complex image manipulation and photo editing.

One of the most basic, but also one of the most essential, tasks that Photoshop can be used for is converting a shape into a path. This can be useful when you want to create a custom shape or text element that can be easily manipulated or edited. In this article, we’ll show you how to turn a shape into a path in Photoshop.

First, create the shape that you want to convert into a path using the Lasso tool in the left toolbar.

You can easily turn this into a path by going to the “Paths” panel (Window > Paths) and clicking on the three dashes icon then selecting “Make Work Path” from the options.

NOTE: This will create a new work path from your selection. You can now use this path to create a custom shape or text element.

In the “Make Work Path” settings window, input the “Tolerance” in pixels and click on “Ok.”

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop software, it is recommended to seek the assistance of someone with experience. Some steps may be tricky so you might need the help of a professional designer.

If you want to save the shape that you created, just click on the path created. Once the shape is selected, go to the “Edit” menu at the top of the screen and choose “Define Custom Shape. ”

This will open the “Define Custom Shape” dialog box. Here, you can give your shape a name and click “OK.”

Your new custom shape will now be saved under the “Custom Shape tool.”

Conclusion:

Converting a shape into a path in Photoshop is a quick and easy way to create custom shapes or text elements.

Simply select the shape with the Selection tool, go to the Paths panel, and click on the Make Work Path option. Then, go to the Edit menu, and choose Define Custom Shape. Your shape is now saved as a work path that can be used to create a custom element.
