If you’re anything like me, then you’re always looking for ways to improve your skills in Photoshop. After years of practice, I’ve finally reached a point where I’m confident enough to say that I’m pretty good at editing photos. That said, I still have a lot to learn.

One skill that I’m always trying to improve is my ability to edit selections. Whether it’s making a precise selection around a subject or simply selecting an area of an image to edit, it’s a skill that definitely takes some practice.

So, can you edit a selection in Photoshop? The short answer is yes! In fact, there are a few different ways that you can do it.

If you want to get really precise with your selections, then you can use the Pen tool. This tool allows you to draw around the subject of your photo with extreme precision. Once you’ve made your selection, you can then use the various editing tools in Photoshop to make changes to that area.

If you’re not looking for such precision, then you can use the Quick Selection tool. This tool is great for quickly selecting an area of an image that you want to edit. Simply click and drag the tool over the area that you want to select and release when you’re happy with your selection.

You can also use the Lasso tool if you want more control over your selection. This tool allows you to draw freehand around the subject of your photo. The Lasso tool can be a bit tricky to master, but it’s definitely worth taking the time to learn how to use it properly.

Once you’ve made your selection, whether it’s with the Pen tool, Quick Selection tool, or Lasso tool, you can then use the various editing tools in Photoshop to make changes to that area. So go ahead and experiment with different selections and see what works best for you!

PRO TIP: If you are planning to edit a selection in Photoshop, be aware that there are a few things that can go wrong. First, if you accidentally move the selection while editing, you could end up with an unwanted result. Second, if you make a change to the selection that you don’t like, there is no Undo command for selections, so you’ll have to start over from scratch.
