The glass effect is one of the most popular effects used in Photoshop. It’s a very versatile effect that can be used to create a variety of different looks. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create a basic glass effect using a couple of different layer styles.
To start, create a new document in Photoshop. We’re going to use a photo of a wine glass for this tutorial, but you can use any photo you like.
Next, add a new layer and fill it with black. Then, set the layer mode to Overlay.
Now, we’re going to add some noise to the Black layer by going to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Add about 10% noise and click OK.
Next, we’re going to add a Bevel and Emboss effect to the Black layer. To do this, go to Layer > Layer Style > Bevel and Emboss. Use the following settings:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Chisel Hard
Depth: 100%
Size: 5px
Angle: 120°
Altitude: 30°
Gloss Contour: Ring
Highlight Mode: Screen
Opacity: 75%
Shadow Mode: Multiply
Color: #000000
Opacity: 75%
Now we’re going to add a second Bevel and Emboss effect to the Black layer. This time, we’re going to use the following settings:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Chisel Hard
Depth: 100%
Size: 5px
Angle: -120°
Altitude: 30°
Gloss Contour: Ring
Highlight Mode: Screen
Opacity: 75%
Shadow Mode: Multiply
Color: #000000
Opacity: 75%
Now we’re going to add a third Bevel and Emboss effect to the Black layer. This time, we’re going to use the following settings:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Chisel Hard
Depth: 50%
Size: 10px
Angle:-60°
Altitude: 30°
Highlight Mode: Screen
Opacity: 75%
Shadow Mode : Multiply
Color:#000000
Opacity : 75%
Now we’re going to add a fourth and final Bevel and Emboss effect to the Black layer. This time, we’re going to use the following settings :
Style : Stroke emboss
Position : Outside
Size : 5px
Fill Type : Gradient Overlay
Gradient : Foreground to Background
Angle : -90°
Scale : 150%
Click OK when you’re done.
Now we’re going to add a Drop Shadow effect to the Black layer. To do this, go to Layer > Layer Style > Drop Shadow. Use the following settings :
Blend Mode : Multiply
Color : #000000
Opacity : 35%
Angle : 120°
Distance : 5px
Spread : 0%
Size : 5px
Click OK when you’re done.
