How Do I Turn a Layer Into a Shape in Photoshop?

There are times when you may want to use a photograph or other raster image as a vector shape. For example, you may want to use a company logo as part of a graphic or website design.

Photoshop provides a quick and easy way to convert a layer into a vector shape. Here’s how:

Open the image you want to convert in Photoshop. Select the layer you want to convert to a shape. Go to Layer > Vector Mask > Current Path.

This will create a path outline around the layer. If you don’t like the way the path looks, you can adjust it by selecting the Pen tool from the Tools palette and making adjustments to the path.
