How Do I Add an Image to a Photoshop Mockup?

Last updated on January 26, 2023 @ 11:56 am

As a web designer, you may be asked to create a Photoshop mockup for a client. This is a common request, as many clients want to see how their site will look before it is built.

Often, they will provide you with an image to use in the mockup. If you are not familiar with how to add an image to a Photoshop mockup, here are some instructions.

First, open the Photoshop file that you will be using for the mockup. Next, open the image that you want to use in the mockup.

To do this, go to File > Open. In the Open dialog box, navigate to the location of the image file and click Open.

The image will now be open in Photoshop. To add it to the mockup, go to Layer > New > Layer from Background. This will create a new layer with the image on it.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, adding an image to a mockup can be difficult. Make sure to follow the instructions carefully, and if you are unsure of anything, ask for help from someone who is familiar with the program.

Now that the image is on its own layer, you can position it within the mockup. To do this, use the Move tool (shortcut: V).

Click on the image and then drag it into place. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to nudge it into position.

If you need to resize the image, go to Edit > Transform > Scale (shortcut: Ctrl/Cmd + T). This will bring up the Transform control handles around the edge of the image.

Click and drag one of these handles to resize the image. Hold down Shift while you do this to keep the proportions locked.

Once you have positioned and resized the image, you can add any other content to the mockup as needed. When you are finished, save the file and export it as an image or PDF so that your client can view it.

Conclusion: Adding an image to a Photoshop mockup is a simple process that can be done in just a few steps. First, open both the Photoshop file and the image that you want to use.

Next, create a new layer for the image and position it within the mockup. Finally, resize as needed and add any other content before saving and exporting.
