Photoshop is a powerful image editing software that allows users to create and manipulate images in various ways. One of the most useful features in Photoshop is the ability to apply styles to your images. Styles are pre-defined effects that can be applied to your images with just a few clicks. In this blog post, we will go over the basics of using styles in Photoshop.

Step 1: Open your image in Photoshop

The first step in using styles in Photoshop is to open your image. You can do this by going to File > Open and selecting the image you want to work with.

Step 2: Select the layer you want to apply the style to

Before you can apply a style to your image, you need to select the layer that you want the style to be applied to. If you have multiple layers in your image, make sure you select the correct one.

Step 3: Go to Layer > Layer Style

Once you have selected the layer you want to apply the style to, go to Layer > Layer Style. This will open a menu of different styles that you can apply to your image.

Step 4: Choose a style

There are many different styles to choose from, including drop shadows, glows, and bevels. Browse through the styles and select the one that you want to apply to your image.

Step 5: Adjust the settings

After you have applied a style to your image, you can adjust the settings to get the desired effect. For example, you can adjust the opacity, angle, and distance of a drop shadow.

Step 6: Apply the style

Once you have adjusted the settings, click OK to apply the style to your image. You can also save the style you’ve created as a new style, by clicking on “New Style” button in Layer Style dialog box. This will save the current settings as a new style that you can use again in the future.

Using styles in Photoshop is a great way to add professional-looking effects to your images without having to manually create them. With a few clicks, you can apply a variety of effects to your images and make them stand out. Keep experimenting with different styles to find the perfect look for your images.

PRO TIP: Use the “Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E” shortcut to create a new layer that combines all visible layers in your Photoshop document. This can be useful for quickly creating a flattened version of your image without having to merge or flatten all of your layers manually.
