Why Can’t I Use 3D in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 2:31 pm

3D is a complex process that requires specialized software and hardware. Photoshop is a 2D image editing software that does not have the ability to create or edit 3D images. If you want to work with 3D images, you’ll need to use a 3D modeling and rendering program like 3ds Max, Maya, or Cinema 4D.

However, Photoshop does have some tools for working with 3D data. For example, you can import 3D models from other programs and use them as layers in your Photoshop project.

And you can use the “3D” menu to adjust the lighting and shading of your 3D model. But these features are limited, and you won’t be able to create or edit true 3D objects in Photoshop.

PRO TIP: If you’re using an older version of Photoshop, you won’t be able to use 3D features. Upgrade to the latest version to get access to all the latest features, including 3D.

So if you’re wondering why you can’t use 3D in Photoshop, it’s because Photoshop simply isn’t designed for that purpose. If you want to work with 3D images, you’ll need to use a dedicated 3D modeling and rendering program.
