Creating a comic book can be a daunting task, but with the right tools, it can be a fun and rewarding experience. One of the most important aspects of creating a comic is the layout.
The layout is what will give your comic its visual structure and flow. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a basic comic layout in Photoshop.
The first step is to create a new document in Photoshop. To do this, go to File > New.
In the New Document window, set the Width to 8.5 inches and the Height to 11 inches. This is the standard size for comic books. Then, click OK.
Next, you’ll need to add some guides to your document. Guides are horizontal or vertical lines that you can use to align elements in your design.
To add guides, go to View > Show > Guides. Then, click and drag out horizontal and vertical guides from the rulers on the sides of your document.
Once you have your guides in place, it’s time to start adding your content. Start by adding a background image.
This can be anything you want, but try to choose something that will set the tone for your comic. For this example, we’ll use a picture of a cityscape at night.
Next, you’ll need to add some text boxes for your dialogue. To do this, create a new layer (Layer > New > Layer) and then use the Rectangle Tool (U) to draw out a box. You can make your text box any size you want, but try to keep it reasonable so it doesn’t take up too much space on the page.
Once you have your text box created, double-click on it to open the Layer Style window. In this window, you’ll want to change the Fill Opacity to 0%. This will make your text box transparent so you can see the background image behind it.
Now that your text box is created, you can start adding your dialogue. To do this, simply click inside the text box and type out what you want your character to say.
Once you’re happy with your dialogue, you can move on to adding images for your characters. For this example, we’ll use two images of Batman and Robin from Batman: The Animated Series. You can find these images by doing a Google search or by looking through royalty-free image websites like Pixabay.
To add an image into Photoshop, go to File > Place Embedded and then select the image you want to use. Once the image is placed into your document, resize it so it fits within your text box and then position it how you want.
