Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:01 pm

To make a flag overlay in Photoshop, you’ll need to start by creating a new layer. You can do this by clicking on the “Create a new layer” icon in the “Layers” palette. Once you have your new layer, you’ll need to select the “Rectangle Tool” from the “Tools” palette. With the Rectangle Tool selected, click and drag out a rectangle that covers the entire image. Next, you’ll need to select the “Paint Bucket Tool” from the “Tools” palette. With the Paint Bucket Tool selected, click on the foreground color in the “Color” palette and choose a color for your flag.

Once you have your color chosen, click on the new layer that you created with the Rectangle Tool and fill it with your chosen color. Now that your flag is created, you’ll need to add some text. To do this, select the “Type Tool” from the “Tools” palette and click on the image where you want to add your text. Type out your text and then change the font, size, and color as desired. Once you’re happy with your text, you can add a drop shadow by selecting the “Layer Styles” icon in the “Layers” palette and choosing “Drop Shadow” from the list. Adjust the settings as desired and then click “OK”. Your flag overlay is now complete!

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, or do not have a strong understanding of design principles, this tutorial may not be for you. Additionally, this tutorial requires the use of an external website ( flags.net) to download flag images. Please be aware that flags.net may not be a reliable source, and could potentially contain malware.
