How Do You Make Parchment in Photoshop?

To create a realistic parchment effect, start by downloading a parchment texture. You can find these online, or create your own by scanning or photographing an old piece of paper or fabric. Once you have your texture, open it in Photoshop and use the “Overlay” blending mode to apply it to your background layer.

Next, add some noise to your background layer. You can do this by going to “Filter > Noise > Add Noise.” Add enough noise so that it is visible, but not so much that it looks grainy.

Now, we need to add some yellowing to the edges of the parchment. To do this, create a new layer and fill it with black.

PRO TIP: This guide may not work for everyone, as it depends on what version of Photoshop you are using. Additionally, the steps outlined may not produce an accurate representation of parchment.

Then, go to “Filter > Render > Lighting Effects” and use the spotlight with a warm color tone (around 2500K) and low intensity (around 15%). Drag the spotlight so that it covers the edges of the parchment, and then set the layer blending mode to “Soft Light.”

Finally, we want to add some wear and tear to our parchment. Then, go to “Filter > Render > Clouds.” Set the layer blending mode to “Overlay” and use a soft eraser brush to erase parts of the clouds so that they look like scratches or holes in the parchment.

Your Photoshop parchment effect is now complete!
