How Do You Subtract One Shape From Another in Photoshop?

If you want to remove one shape from another in Photoshop, there are a few different ways to do it. One way is to use the Subtract From Shape Area option in the Pathfinder panel.

To do this, first select the shape that you want to remove from the other shape. Then, with the shape selected, click on the Subtract From Shape Area option in the Pathfinder panel. This will remove the shape from the other shape.

Another way to remove one shape from another is to use the Eraser tool. To do this, first select the Eraser tool from the toolbar.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful while subtracting one shape from another in Photoshop, you may end up with an irregular shape that does not look good. Be sure to use the correct selection tool and to make sure that both shapes are the same size before subtracting.

Then, with the Eraser tool selected, hover over the area where you want to remove the shape from the other shape and click.

You can also use a layer mask to remove one shape from another. To do this, first create a new layer mask by clicking on the Add Layer Mask icon in the Layers panel.

Then, with the new layer mask selected, use a black brush to paint over the area where you want to remove the shape from the other shape.
